The 17-year-old -girl has also been a member of the Maroon band, the student council, Y-Teens, and the Perryscope staff, Miss Shappell, No. 9 Highland drive, was born in Roxana, Okla., and has attended schools in Orlando and Perry.  She plans to take a job after graduating from PHS.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"two_third last_column\">\n<h1>Verna Belle (Shappell) Smith<\/h1>\n<h3>July 3, 1932 &#8211; December 21, 2003<\/h3>\n<p>\ufeffVerna Belle Smith, age 71, of Crescent, OK, was born on July 3, 1932, in Marshall, OK, to Marion and Mary Shappell. She died Sunday, December 21, 2003, in Crescent.<\/p>\n<p>She is survived by her husband Bill of the home; one daughter, Debbie and husband, Carl Crane of Earlsboro, OK; three sisters, Rose Mary St. Clair and Evelyn Coe, both of Perry, and Delores Myers, Morrison; two grandsons, Patrick and Christopher Boles; one great granddaughter, Christina Boles; one sister-in-law, Hester and husband Bob Gooch of Guthrie; and numerous nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n<p>She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Billie Teresa Smith.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral services will be held at Smith Memorial Chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2003, with Rev. Terry Martindale officiating.
