One of the local high school’s outstanding agriculture students, Wilbur Sloan, plans to continue his education next semester at Oklahoma A. & M. college.<\/p>\n

Wilbur is serving this year as president of the Perry FFA chapter, which has won numerous honors in state and regional competition. He is the 17-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. O. Sloan of route 2, Perry, and was born in Perry.<\/p>\n

Wilbur, a hunting and fishing enthusiast, lists mathematics as his favorite subject. He has been in “Who’s Who in American High schools,” was an honor student, went out for wrestling, served as a homeroom president, and is a member of Teen Town.<\/p>\n

He has also appeared in the senior play and the senior assembly.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Wilbur Lee “Wick” Sloan<\/h1>\n

January 24, 1932 – May 6, 2005<\/h3>\n

\ufeffWilbur Lee Sloan, age 73, was born Jan. 24, 1932, in Perry, OK. to O. L. and Anna Sloan. He passed away Friday at his home at Spanish Cove in Yukon, OK. <\/p>\n

Wilbur graduated from Perry High School and received his B.S. in Engineering from OSU. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1953. <\/p>\n

He married Beverly McQuiston on Jan. 24, 1953, in Perry. <\/p>\n

Wilbur worked for Lucent for 28 years. After his retirement he and Beverly moved to Lake Kiowa, TX. In 2000 they moved to Spanish Cove in Yukon. <\/p>\n

He was a member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church. Wilbur remained active in the Pioneers Retirement Group. <\/p>\n

He is preceded in death by his wife Beverly Sloan, his mother and a grandson. <\/p>\n

Survivors are daughter and son-in-law, Janet & Kerry Stricklin of Mustang, OK; son and daughter-in-law, Kelly and Connie Sloan of Chicago, IL; son Mark Sloan of OKC; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Brenda Sloan of Leander, TX; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild.<\/p>\n

Funeral Mass will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2005, at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Yukon with private interment.
