{"id":17761,"date":"2020-05-29T01:17:52","date_gmt":"2020-05-29T06:17:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/perryokalumni.com\/?page_id=17761"},"modified":"2020-05-29T01:21:54","modified_gmt":"2020-05-29T06:21:54","slug":"obituary-swendig-clarence-lavern-jr","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/perryokalumni.com\/?page_id=17761","title":{"rendered":"Obituary &#8211; Swendig, Clarence &#8220;Lavern,&#8221; Jr."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"one_third\">\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Class of 1945<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"two_third last_column\">\n<h1>Clarence &#8220;Lavern&#8221; Swendig, Jr.<\/h1>\n<h3>September 26, 1926 &#8211; December 7, 1973<\/h3>\n<p>Lavern Swendig, 47, 716 Grove street, died at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Perry Memorial hospital, which he entered Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Swendig was born Sept. 26, 1926, in Perry, to Clarence and Mary (Thompson) Swendig.  He was a World war II veteran and had resided in Perry most of his life. He had been engaged in farming and had operated a service station. Swendig was a member of the Christian church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Independent Order of Odd Fellows lodge.<\/p>\n<p>Survivors include his parents, of the home address; one brother, Richard, who is serving with the U.S. Army in Colorado; and one sister, Mrs. Betty Ruth (Swendig) Payne, Dallas, Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Parker chapel with Rev. W. T. Dunn, pastor of the Calvary Baptist church, officiating.
