A 1942 graduate of Perry High School, he retired from Ford Motor Co., Norfolk, assembly plant. He was a member of Avalon Church of Christ, where he served as a former elder. Mr. Stewart served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, Janie R. Stewart; his daughter, Cathy Turner of Riverdale, Ga.; two brothers, Benny Stewart and Joseph Stewart, both of Wichita, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four stepchildren, David Knight, Toni Million, Joe Starkey and Cookie Jones.<\/p>\n<p>A funeral will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, by James A. Bennett.
