John Postelwait, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Postelwait, 727 Seventh, is serving somewhere in the Pacific area with an anti-aircraft unit.<\/p>\n<p>John was born at Painesville, Ohio, August 12, 1925.  He attended grade school at Painesville, and received his high school training at Freemont and at Perry.  He is a member of the Baptist church, and after his discharge from military service, he plans to take up diesel engineering.  <\/p>\n<p>John entered the service November 3, 1943, and received his basic military training at Camp Callan, Calif.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"two_third last_column\">\n<h1>John Wesley Postelwait<\/h1>\n<h3>12 August 12, 1925 &#8211; October 3, 1981<\/h3>\n<p>\ufeffJohn Postelwait, 56, Arkansas City, formerly of Perry, died at noon Saturday after an illness of several weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Postelwait, the son of Charles and Hazel (Scott) Postelwait, was born Aug. 12, 1925, at Painesville, Ohio. He grew up in the Perry community and was a graduate of Perry high school. He and Vada Sloan were married at Perry March 23, 1950.<\/p>\n<p>Postelwait was an employee of the United States Postal Service at Arkansas City. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict, serving with the United States Army. He was a member of the Crescent lodge, AF&#038;AM, the Scottish Rite Temple, the Midian Shrine, Order of Eastern Star and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Mrs. Postelwait, of the home, survivors include three sons, John and Dale, both of Arkansas City; and Mark, of Dickinson, N.D.; a daughter, Carla, of Topeka, Kan.; his father, Charles Postelwait, Perry; a brother, Richard Postelwait, Perry; three sisters, Mrs. Ellsworth Sunderland, Mrs. Dorothy Pontious and Mrs. Barbara Blair, all of Enid; and six grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>He was a son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. William Sloan, Perry; and a brother-in-law of Leo Sloan, also of Perry.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Rindt-Erdman Memorial chapel at Arkansas City with Rev. William E. Bowles officiating. Masonic graveside rites will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Carmel cemetery, north of Perry.
