{"id":18900,"date":"2020-09-03T00:16:36","date_gmt":"2020-09-03T05:16:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/perryokalumni.com\/?page_id=18900"},"modified":"2020-09-03T00:16:36","modified_gmt":"2020-09-03T05:16:36","slug":"obituary-gibson-mabel-emeline-foster","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/perryokalumni.com\/?page_id=18900","title":{"rendered":"Obituary &#8211; Gibson, Mabel Emeline (Foster)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"one_third\">\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Class of 1914<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"two_third last_column\">\n<h1>Mabel Emeline (Foster) Gibson<\/h1>\n<h3>March 18, 1894 &#8211; April 3, 1990<\/h3>\n<p>\ufeffFormer Perryan Mabel Foster Gibson, 96, died Tuesday at Rolla, Mo.<\/p>\n<p>Born at Perry, March 18, 1894, she was the daughter of George A. and Sarah Rebecca (Deppen) Foster. <\/p>\n<p>She graduated from Perry high school in 1914. Possessing a most remarkable voice, she was a student of Oscar Seigle in New York City and abroad at Nice, France.  In 1924 she accepted a position at Oklahoma A. &#038; M. College to teach voice and direct the girls&#8217; glee club.  Miss Foster was known as the &#8220;Oklahoma Nightingale,&#8221; as she had broadcasted many times at several radio stations.  <\/p>\n<p>She was a member of the First Presbyterian church at Perry.<\/p>\n<p>She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Savage, who operated a furniture business in Perry at the southwest corner of the square many years. Her second husband, Dr. Gibson, also preceded her.<\/p>\n<p>Among survivors are one daughter, Sara Shackelford, Rolla; one son, George Savage, Houston, Texas; two stepsons, Dr. Bob Gibson, Ponca City, Okla.; and Dr. Charles Gibson, Chickasaw, Okla.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>Graveside rites will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Grace Hill cemetery at Perry under direction of Atkisson-Swinfard Funeral home of Rolla.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"page-FullWidth.php","meta":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/perryokalumni.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/pages\/18900"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/perryokalumni.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/perryokalumni.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/perryokalumni.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/perryokalumni.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=18900"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/perryokalumni.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/pages\/18900\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":18901,"href":"https:\/\/perryokalumni.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/pages\/18900\/revisions\/18901"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/perryokalumni.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=18900"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
