(Springer) Wood<\/h1>\n<h3>July 15, 1904 &#8211; November 13, 1981<\/h3>\n<p>Ruth A. Wood, 77, resident of the Villa apartments of Perry, died at 2:45 a.m. Friday at Perry Memorial hospital following a lengthy illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Shawnee, OK, on July 14, 1904, she was the daughter of Frank and Mary Springer.  She moved to the Perry community in 1918.  Following her graduation from Perry high, she taught at Pike&#8217;s Peak rural school, Dist. 79.<\/p>\n<p>She and Lew Wood were married Dec. 26, 1925, and lived and raised their family in Perry until 1958 when they moved to Atlanta, GA.  They moved to Tucson, AZ, in 1965 for Lew&#8217;s health.  He died after living there only a few months.<\/p>\n<p>After Lew&#8217;s death Ruth moved back to Perry.  She was a member of the Christian church and the Order of the Eastern Star.<\/p>\n<p>Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, and two brothers, Paul Springer and Glenn Springer.<\/p>\n<p>Survivors include two sons, Jack L. Wood, Oklahoma City, and Joe C. Wood, Atlanta, GA; one daughter, Mrs. James S. (Silvey W.) Barge, Springfield, IL; two sisters, Mrs. George (Vera) Aigner and Mrs. Brace (Vesta) Smith, both of Perry; a brother, Fern Springer, Wilsey, KS; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.<\/p>\n<p>A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian church of Perry with Rev. M. R. Work pastor, officiating.  Burial will be at the South Lawn Memorial Park cemetery at Tucson, AZ.  Rev. John Coatsworth, of Park Avenue Christian church, will conduct graveside rites.
