One of Perry high school’s busiest senior girls this year is Lavina June Swart, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Swart, who has taken part in a large number of school activities.<\/p>\n

She is a member of the Maroon band, playing clarinet, is an honor student, member of the yearbook staff, Teen Town council member, student council member, and was a member of a junior high honor group.<\/p>\n

In the school year just closing, she was editor of the school yearbook, vice president of the band, and treasurer of Teen-Town. She has also served as worthy advisor in Rainbow and was attendant to the annual queen and the basketball queen. All this earned for her the title of “all ’round senior girl and senior girl with personality plus.”<\/p>\n

She also managed to work in time for her parts in the yearbook play in 1948 and 1949, the 1948 junior class play, and this year’s senior play. What’s more, she has been active in Y-Teens, Zeta Chi, Order of Rainbow, and was listed in “Who’s Who in American High Schools.”<\/p>\n

Lavina still finds an occasional lull in which to pursue two hobbies, sewing and music. Her favorite school subjects are home economics and problems of American democracy.<\/p>\n

She lives with her parents at 1324 Delaware street, and expects to enter Hill’s business college.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Lavina Jane (Swart) Hussey<\/h1>\n

March 2, 1931 – November 23, 2004<\/h3>\n

Lavina Jane Hussey died Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at her home in Stillwater. <\/p>\n

She was born on March 2, 1931, in Perry to Chester Swart and Lola V. Crockett. She married Henry “Ferg” Hussey on Aug. 28, 1954. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.<\/p>\n

She graduated from Perry High School in 1949 and attended Hill’s Business University. She started college on a part-time basis at age 35 and graduated 15 years later from Central State University with a degree in accounting.<\/p>\n

She became a Certified Public Accountant and after that, was certified as a Financial Planner. She worked as a staff accountant for several accounting firms; was a business manager at a real estate firm; and ended her career in the trust tax department of a large bank in Oklahoma City.<\/p>\n

She and her family lived in Oklahoma City for 40 years. After her retirement in 1994 they moved to Stillwater.<\/p>\n

She was a member of the First Christian Church, Oklahoma Society of CPAs, Stillwater Country Club’s Women’s Golf Association, and a volunteer at Judith Karman Hospice.<\/p>\n

Lavina’s spent her free time golfing, reading, traveling, sewing, and being with family and friends.<\/p>\n

Preceding her in death are her parents; three brothers; and one sister.<\/p>\n

She is survived by her husband, of the home; one daughter, one son, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by one brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews; and many more dear friends. <\/p>\n

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the First Christian Church in Stillwater. The Rev. M. Rick Hendricks officiating.
