Joyce Aleen Wakeman, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Wakeman, route 4, Perry, plans to enter and Enid business college after graduating from Perry high. Joyce was born Feb. 12, 1938, in Perry. She has been in the band since 1952, and was on the student council last year. Joyce was a member of the senior play cast this year, took part in her senior, junior, and sophomore class assemblies, and was business manager for a class band queen candidate.

Joyce Wakeman passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at age 79.
Born in Perry on February 12, 1938, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Wakeman. After graduating from Perry High School in 1956, she remained in Perry to raise her family. She later lived and worked in several cities around the country, including Phoenix, Las Vegas and San Diego, before returning to Perry in the early 90’s to be near her family. Joyce will be remembered for her love of crafting, jewelry making, Elvis Presley and all things purple.
Joyce leaves behind two daughters, Kim Ornellas and Pam Cordes; six grandchildren and one great-grandson; her sisters, Pat Kukuk and Debra Staab, her brother, Jim Wakeman, as well as six nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Marie Wakeman, and her nephew, Rick Kukuk.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
