Future plans are indefinite for Esther Martha Wagner, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Wagner. Esther was born April 8, 1939, in Perry, and attended White school and St. Joseph’s Catholic school before entering PHS. She was in the glee club this year and sang in the Christmas vesper service. She also was in the all-school revue last year. Her favorite subject is Problems of American Democracy, and her favorite pastime is fishing.
Esther Martha (Wagner) Smith

Esther M. Smith, 78, of Perry, Oklahoma was called to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 28, 2017.
Born on April 8, 1939 in Perry, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Emil and Mary Frances (Blatt) Wagner. She was a graduate of Perry High School. Esther was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where she was an active member of the Altar Society. She found great joy in serving the Lord, and did so faithfully her whole life.
Esther and Gerald Smith were united in marriage on January 29, 1967. They resided in Alva, OK until his death. At that time, Esther and the children moved to Perry. She enjoyed being a homemaker and loved working in the yard. She loved nature.
After her children were grown, Esther married Albert Cawood on July 27, 1998. They enjoyed traveling and working together on home improvements. They gave generously to others. Esther enjoyed volunteering at the soup kitchen.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, Gerald Smith and Albert Cawood; sister, Emily Leaming, and brother, Gerald Wagner.
She is survived by one son, Paul E. Smith of Perry; one daughter, Adele (Duane) Springer of Bayard, New Mexico; sisters, Virginia Slay, Jerry Gilbreath, Jean Ann (Joe) Glaser, and Dolly (Jim) Kent; brothers, William E. (Kathy) Wagner, Marvin (Arline) Wagner and Raymond (Edit) Wagner; grandchildren, BreAnne Springer and Christopher Springer; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 1, 2017, at 10:00am at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Perry, OK. A private burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
