Charles Fink Willett

March 9, 1926 – June 28, 1982

Charles F. Willett of Delta, Col., died Saturday, June 26, 1982, in Denver after a long illness. He was 56.

Mr. Willett was an attorney with the firm of Charles F. Willett Esq., and a Delta resident for 22 years.

He was born March 9, 1926, in Enid, Okla. He spent his childhood and attended schools in Perry, Okla. He was graduated from Duke University and Fordham Law School.

Mr. Willett married Sandra J. Morris in Las Vegas, Nev., Sept. 22, 1979. She survives.

Before moving to Delta, he lived in New York, N.Y. His interests included golfing, hunting, fishing, boating, traveling and gardening. He was a member of Delta BPOE Lodge No. 1235, the Western Slope Shrine Club, the El Jebel Order of Denver, and the Delta Masonic Lodge, AF & AM.

Mr. Willett was a member of the bar associations in Colorado, Oklahoma and New York, the American Bar Association and the Seventh Judicial District Bar Association, a regional organization. He was on the Board of Governors for the Colorado Bar Association, and was a past president and special prosecutor for the Seventh Judicial District. He was also a member of the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, and a former special agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Mr. Willett was on the board of directors of the Mountain View Travel Agency in Delta; a past chairman of the Delta County American Red Cross; the past president of the Cottonwood Golf Course, of which he was an eight-time club champion; the Montrose Golf Course, of which he was also a club champion; and vice president of the Delta County Booster Club.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one daughter, Allison G. Klein of Tempe, Ariz.; on son, Yeulin V. Willett, II of Delta; two sisters, Genevieve “Jennie” Slade of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Ruth E. Lanza of Steamboat Springs; and three grandchildren.
