Clifford Frank Chapman
September 17, 1882 – December 20, 1932
C. F. Chapman, 50 died at his home, 1417 East Lincoln avenue at 10:40 o’clock last night, December 20, 1932, following a five week illness. Chapman who has practiced law here for 22 years, had been in ill health for the last 17 years, but his illness did not become critical until a few weeks ago.
Born in Newton, Kansas September 17, 1882, to William E. and Elizabeth J. (Brett) Chapman. His parents brought him and his young sister, Mary Louise, to Perry, Oklahoma in January 1894, to open the W. E. Chapman dry goods store. Clifford graduated in the first graduating class from Perry high school in 1901 and served as the treasurer for the first Perry High School Alumni Association.
He continued his education at the Territorial University (later Oklahoma University) at Norman and was active on the debate team. Following his graduation in 1906 he attended law school at Kansas State University, Lawrence Kansas. He graduated in 1909.
Upon leaving Lawrence he went to Tulsa where he was identified with the law firm of Abbey and Tucker. In 1910 he moved to Sapulpa, opening a law office in the Garst building, where he continued to practice until his death.
He was married to Caroline C. Geraghty at the Sacred Heart Catholic church on July 2, 1925, in Sapulpa.
Surviving him are his wife, Caroline, a small daughter, Caroline Elizabeth, and a sister, Miss Mary Louis Chapman all of Sapulpa.
Funeral services will be held at the Sacred Heart church, Sapulpa, at 9 o’clock Friday morning, with Rev. James Rooney in charge. Burial will be made at the Southern Heights cemetery.
