Decision concerning a major in pharmacy or child psychology is in the future for Marcia Kay Taylor. She plans to work full-time this summer, then enroll at St. Gregory’s at Shawnee. Speech/drama is a favorite class of Miss Taylor and reading, attending sports events, and sewing are hobbies. Her church affiliation is Catholic. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Taylor, 1003 Hillside, Miss Taylor was born at Perry, Jan. 8, 1971. She has attended only Perry public schools. Among her school activities are band, six years; National Honor Society, grades seven through 12; the school newspaper staff, one year; Future Homemakers of America, one year; TSA, one year; JETS, two years; and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, one year. She is a four-year member of her church youth group and served one year as treasurer. She served one year as treasurer and one year as president of JETS; one year as secretary of TSA; had a role in “Calamity Jane,” a PHS production; was listed twice in Who’s Who Among American High School Students; and twice was named an Academic All-American.

Marcia Kay (Taylor) Hua, M.D., 29, Oklahoma City, died March 16, 2000, in Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK.

Marcia Kay Taylor was born January 8, 1971, in Perry, OK, the daughter of John Marks and Kathy Marie (Frazier) Taylor. Marcia was reared in Perry, OK, where she attended Perry schools, and graduated in 1989. She played flute for the band, and was a member of the National Honor Society, Technology Students Association (TSA), and Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS).

Marcia attended St. Gregory’s college and graduated cum laude in 1991. She attended Oklahoma State University and graduated in 1994 with a bachelor of science degree in zoology. Society memberships included Phi Kappa Phi.

She and Thieu Le Hua were married June 4, 1994, and resided in Oklahoma City. After her marriage, Marcia Hua attended the school of medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences and graduated in May 1998. She was accepted into the Family Practice Residency Program at the O.U. Health Sciences Center and completed with eight months of residency before becoming ill in March 1999.

Marcia enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, flower gardening, and cooking. She also loved a variety of music and especially enjoyed karaoke.

Survivors include her husband Thieu of Oklahoma City; her parents John and Kathy Taylor, Perry; one sister. Angela Taylor, Stillwater; and three brothers, Mark Taylor and his wife Molly Bowling, Tulsa, OK, Brian Taylor of Stillwater, and Derek Taylor of Perry; grandparents Hazel Gray Frazier, Perry, and John and Teresa Taylor, Disney, OK, and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Marcia was preceded in death by her grandfather Rayborn Frazier.

A Memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2000, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Perry. Rev. Kevin Devlin will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Marcia Kay Hua, M.D. Memorial, Department of Family Medicine, 900 N. E. 10th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73104.
