Jean Oden, 17, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brent Oden of 1222 Fir street. She was born August 23, 1928, in Perry and attended high school briefly in Borger, Texas, before this year.

She is worthy advisor of the order of rainbow for girls and was a member of the band from 1942 to 1945. Jean belongs to the Red Hots. After graduation she plans to take nurses training.

Olive “Jean” (Oden) Long

Jean Long, 92-year-old Enid resident, died October 28, 2020, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

Jean was born Aug. 23, 1928, in Perry, OK, to Brent and Olive (Miller) Oden. She attended Perry Schools, graduating with the class of 1946.

On Oct. 12, 1949, she married James D. Long. The couple made their home in Enid where Jean worked at Enid General Hospital. In 1978, she obtained her nursing degree from NOC. She worked at Integris Bass Baptist for many years until retiring in 1994. Even after retirement, she stayed active volunteering at Our Daily Bread as well as other charities.

She was a longtime member of Central Christian Church and Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James.

She is survived by her sons, Stuart and wife Kathiann of Enid; Kevin and wife Barbara of Florida; three granddaughters, Traci Hamm, Kristi Long, and Jamie James; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 7, 2020, in the chapel of Central Christian Church with Reverend Tom Stanley officiating. Memorials can be given to Our Daily Bread.
