Virginia Anne Maine says that she has enjoyed typing most of all of her classes during her school years, and she plans to become a stenographer after graduation.

She lives with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Maine, at 207 Kaw street and spent her grade school years in the Lutheran school.

The 17-year-old girl was born Oct. 8, 1931, in Perry. Most of her spare time is taken up on the tennis court.

Virginia Annie Maine Eggers, Morrison, Oklahoma, was the daughter of Morris and Frieda (Piel) Maine. She was born October 8, 1931, in Perry, Oklahoma. She departed from this life on February 1, 2024.

Virginia was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church and attended the Christ Lutheran two-room parochial school through the 8th grade. She was confirmed in her faith on May 20, 1945. She attended Perry High School and graduated in 1949. She was employed at the Noble County Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service and Farm Service Agency.

Virginia was active in the church choir, Sunday School teacher for many years, and a member of Christ Lutheran Church all of her life.

On July 22, 1972, she married W.D. Eggers and moved to Morrison, Oklahoma. Virginia was a charter member and historian of the Morrison Tree Board; the sergeant at arms in the Morrison American Legion Auxiliary, Christie Jones Unit #343; a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, Payne County Chapter #0183; and secretary and bookkeeper for the Farm Supply business, and she helped friends when possible.

Virginia and her late husband, W.D., enjoyed spending time going to farm shows, sales, auctions, and agricultural seminars. They enjoyed their travels overseas as well as the USA and a Caribbean Cruise on Queen Elizabeth II.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Frieda Maine; husband, W.D., brother and wife, Ernest and Bessie Maine; son and wife, Delles and Audrey Eggers; son, Brent Eggers; and granddaughter, Carrie Eggers.

She is survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Perry with burial at Grace Hill cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, Morrison Community Development Association (MCDA), Morrison American Legion Auxiliary Unit #343, Christ Lutheran Children’s Learning Center, or a charity of your choice.
