Russel E. Barker

August 20, 1913 – April 29, 2000

Services for Russel E. Barker, 86, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Chapel with the Rev. Walt Spradling officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

Barker died April 29, 2000, in Oklahoma City. He was born Aug. 20, 1913, in Noble County, to George E. and Fannie M. Sanders Barker.

He married Veda Richey Dec. 12, 1935, in Perry, and had lived in Ardmore since 1954, working as a production superintendent for Texas Pacific Oil Co. He was a member of CrystalRock Cathedral.

He was preceded in death by his wife in February 1999; a brother, Howard; and sisters, Helen and Hazel.

Survivors include daughters, Carol Suttle, Noble, Sharon Miller, Alamogordo, N.M., Linda Houldson, Lone Grove; brothers, Wesley, Salina, Kan., and Lester, Overland Park; a sister, Maxine Jerome, Perry; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Bearers will be Lester Gunsolus, Charles Buck, Pat Patterson, Alfred Peoples, Dan Jones and C.J. Burmam.
