Genevieve (Samuelson) Carmichael
About 1918 – After 1999
Genevieve Carmichael, born in Kansas around 1918, was the daughter of John A. and Marie Genevieve Beardsley Samuelson.
She graduated from Perry high school in 1935 and worked as society editor for the Perry Daily Journal before attending Tulsa Business College. Genevieve worked in Tulsa and then accepted a position in the commercial department of the SW Bell Telephone company’s Bartlesville division.
On January 24, 1943, she and Carl Carmichael married in Perry. He was commissioned an ensign in the Naval Reserve in 1941 and went on to serve on 10 ships during his military career, acting as commanding officer for most of the vessels. Capt. Carmichael retired from the Navy in 1965 and the couple settled in Coronado, California where he was manager of the Coronado Yacht Club for a time. He also served on the staff of the Coronado Golf Club, where Genevieve was also active. Genevieve and Carl lived in Coronado since 1957.
Carl died in October, 1999. Genevieve was listed as a survivor, but her date of death is not known.
