Charles Edward Mieir

January 5, 1929 – July 17, 2008

Charles Edward Mieir, 79, of 404 Broad St., died Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Granville Medical Center, Oxford, North Carolina.

Born in Perry, Oklahoma on January 5, 1929, he was the son of the late William H. and Constance Briggs Mieir. Following his graduation from Perry high in 1947, he continued his education He was a graduate of the University of West Florida and Southeastern Seminary at Wake Forest, North Carolina.

He was a retired master sergeant with the U.S. Air Force and a retired minister.

Predeceasing him were two of his daughters, Diana Lee Mieir and Pamela Sue Jones.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Brown Mieir of the home; two sons, Robert “Rob” N. Mieir of Oxford and Steven D. Mieir of Valrico, Fla.; a daughter, Sharon Marie Beck of Mandeville, La.; two brothers, Donald H. Mieir of Ponca City, Okla., and Eugene “Phil” Mieir of Wichita Falls, Texas; a sister, Wilma Harkins of Ponca City, Okla.; and 12 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Gentry-Newell and Vaughan Funeral Chapel, Oxford, NC, by the Revs. Bob Wainwright and J. Steve Bolton. Burial will follow in Meadowview Memorial Park, Oxford, with military rites. Memorials may be made to The Gideon Memorial Bible Chairman, P.O. Box 933, Oxford, NC, 27565.
