Mildred (Jones) Freese
June 6, 1889 – June 18, 1973
Mildred Freese, 84, of Skyline Terrace Nursing Home, Tulsa, Oklahoma, died June 18, 1973.
Born in Dighton, Kansas on June 6, 1889, she was the daughter of James Denny and Ella Forester Jones. Following her graduation from Perry high school in 1906, she began teaching at several schools in Tulsa and continuing her education. She was a graduate of the University of Tulsa and attended the University of Chicago.
On March 2, 1920, Mildred and Dr. Ernest Clyde Freese, a young Tulsa dentist, were married. They were blessed with four children before Ernest’s death in November, 1938.
After her husband’s death, Mildred returned to teaching and served as the Tulsa Public Schools clerk until her retirement in 1954.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, and a talented piano accompanist.
Survivors include: three sons, James D. Freese, Midland, Texas, William E. Freese, Atlanta, Georgia, and John T. Freese, Houston, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Frank O. (Maryella) Jones Jr., 4141 S. Trenton Ave.; a sister, Mrs. Hilda Harry, 1339 E: 38th St.; and four grandchildren.
Services are scheduled at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Stanleys Memorial Chapel, Tulsa. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Tulsa.
