Lori “Chris” (Stoops) Cannida
Class of 1976
Chris (Stoops) Cannida, a 1976 PHS graduate, received a B.S. degree in Special Education and an M.S. degree in Applied Behavioral Science. While teaching in Broken Arrow, she was chosen to serve on the first state curriculum-writing team for students with behavioral challenges.
In 1993, Chris became a psychotherapist and moved to North Carolina. During that time, she opened a private practice and worked for a Department of Defense program serving military units during the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. Chris was chosen as one of only 109 therapists out of several thousand to embed directly with combat units, working closely with command staff to keep units supported during times of conflict.
In 2014, Chris and her family returned to Oklahoma where she continues to work as a psychotherapist in private practice specializing in trauma recovery.
