Trent has been in football, wrestling, FFA, baseball, FCA, and Psychology of Learning. He received an award for all-area wrestling, was sixth in state in wrestling, and was all state in baseball.

Captain of the wrestling team and a tri-captain of the football team his senior year, is Trent Allen Vorndran. A member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes four years, he was vice president of the group his junior year and served as co-president of the organization his senior year. He played football and participated in the wrestling program six years each, played baseball, four years, and was a member of the Future Farmers of America, one year. He was named a Junior Rotarian his senior year and was a Gold Card recipient. He was named to the all area wrestling team both his junior and senior years, took third in state his senior year, and fourth in state his junior year in wrestling. He was an honorable mention all-stater in baseball his junior year and listed in Who’s Who Among American High School Students for three years. His senior year, he was listed in Who’s Who in Sports. Trent was born Dec. 29, 1972, in Perry and is the son of Cathie Vorndran, 8 Wilshire, and Greg Vorndran, 1304 Locust street. He attended pre-school and kindergarten at Christ Lutheran school. Although undecided on a college, he plans to major in marketing. He is a member of the First Christian church where he serves as a deacon.

Trent Allen Vorndran

December 29, 1972 – August 22, 1993

Trent Allen Vorndran, 20, Perry student at Northwestern State university at Alva, was fatally injured Saturday night in a traffic accident near Alva.

Vorndran was born in Perry, Dec. 29, 1972, the son of Greg and Cathie (Fortney) Vorndran. He was a 1991 graduate of Perry high school. In high school, he was active in football, wrestling, and baseball.

He was a member and served as an officer of the Perry high school chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, was a member of the all-district wrestling team as a high school junior and was given All-State honorable mention recognition, also as a high school junior.

He was a member and junior deacon of the First Christian church and this summer helped coach a Perry Kids Inc. 10-and-under baseball team. Vorndran had played college baseball.

In addition to his parents, Cathie Vorndran of the home at 8 Wilshire, and Greg Vorndran, Perry, survivors include one brother, Brock, of the home; his maternal grandfather, Floyd Fortney, Douglas; paternal grandmother, Florence Vorndran, Perry; maternal great-grandfather, John Fortney, Covington; and uncles and aunts, Don and Vicki Harmon, Lucien, and Mike and Terri Vorndran, Cleveland.

Funeral has been set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian church. Rev. Lynn Scott, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at St. Rose of Lima Catholic cemetery.
