Velma B. (Cress) Hieber

September 5, 1912 – April 2, 1973

Mrs. Velma (Cress) Hieber, 60, Los Angeles, Calif., formerly of Perry, died at 4;15 a.m. Monday at Sunset Boulevard hospital in Los Angeles following a period of ill health. Arrangements for services were pending Monday in California.

Born in Kansas to Lycurgus Fletcher and Alda (Crawford) Cress, Mrs. Hieber graduated from Perry high school in 1930. She taught in local area rural schools before moving to California in 1941.

Survivors include her husband, LeRoy Hieber of the home in Los Angeles; one sister, Mrs. Frank (Alberta) Ley, 800 Seventh street in Perry; and one brother, Dr. Max Cress, Mena, Ark.
