Joe Bender Divine

Joe B. Divine, 55, of Lyndon, Kan., brother of John W. Divine of Perry, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon of a heart attack while returning home from a visit in Girard, Kan.

Born March 8, 1910, in Fallis, Okla., he was a 1929 graduate of Perry high school. He attended Pleasant Hill rural school, formerly located two miles north and one East of Perry. He was a graduate of Oklahoma State university.

Divine was county agent in Osage county, Kan.

Other survivors include his wife; Marie, of the home in Lyndon; a son, John L. Divine, Tucson, Ariz.; five other brothers, F. L., Woodward; Charlie L., Odessa, Texas; Thomas H., Edmond; Philip K., Phoenix, and James. F., Shawnee: and two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Neuerburg, Garden City, Kan.; and Mrs. Georgie Donohoe, Ponca City.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Methodist church of Lyndon, Kan. The body will lie in state Thursday at the Newton funeral home in Perry until 2 p.m., when a graveside service will be conducted at Grace Hill cemetery. Rev. Joe Samuels, minister of the First Christian church, will officiate at the local service.
