Freda June (DeNoya) Grant

June 18, 1917 – January 26, 2008

Freda June Grant died on January 26, 2008 and is buried in the Fairfax Cemetery in Fairfax, Oklahoma.

Grant was born June 18, 1917 in Oklahoma to Fredrick Joseph and Rose Edith (Cross) DeNoya. She graduated from Perry high school, Tulsa business college and was a student for two years at Oklahoma A. and M.

Grant is believed to be the first Perry girl to become a member of the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corp. She enlisted on September 25, 1942 and was released from service August 20, 1943. Prior to her service she was employed by the Federal Reserve bank in Oklahoma City.

She married James Lindsay Grant.

Mrs. Grant was predeceased by her parents and one brother, Louis Leonard DeNoya.
