– son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Moore, 317 Ash street. He was born in Perry 18 years ago and has lived here for 15 years of those years.

Archie has taken all 12 years of his schooling in the Perry schools.

After graduation, Archie will be called to the army.

Archie Herbert Moore

July 20, 1924 – May 6, 2010

Archie Moore, 85, of Perry, Oklahoma, was the son of Archie Irvin and Helen Mae (Chadwell) Moore. He was born on July 20, 1924 in Perry, Oklahoma and died Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Green Valley Nursing Home in Perry, Oklahoma.

He was a graduate of Perry High School.

On May 28, 1961, Archie married Deloris June “Hoppy” Ewy in Perry, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on September 18, 1999.

Archie was honored by Oklahoma State University graduates with a scholarship named in his honor.

He worked for the state’s liquefied petroleum board in the 1960’s, then took a job as a safety engineer with Ranger Insurance Co., spending more than two decades showing firefighters how to put out propane blazes.

Archie enjoyed having coffee and visiting with his friends at Mr. Convenience. His hobbies included fishing, fixing things, helping people and collecting tools.

Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Perry. The Rev. Mary E. Hileman will officiate, assisted by Father Bill Powell. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home in Perry.

Archie is survived by two sons, Jim Tearney and Dennis Tearney and his wife, Lee Ann, all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris Moore and his parents.
