Doris began her working career as a Bell Telephone operator where she worked for approximately five years. Doris then found the perfect fit as a dental assistant. She worked at Dr. William Busby’s dental office for over twenty-five years.

Doris had many interests that she enjoyed greatly. She square danced with Cecil, loving the fancy dresses she got to wear. Bowled in a local league from the time her children were little. She also played golf and participated in scrambles at Perry Golf and Country Club. She was known for her flower gardens and being a great pie connoisseur. During all her travels Doris would sample pies at every stop all across the country. She didn’t have a favorite flavor, if it was a pie it was a favorite. She also had a great love for birds. She enjoyed birds so much her husband added an aviary to her home. She tended to too many birds to count, having some of every variety. When she wasn’t bowling, golfing or gardening Doris enjoyed doing word search puzzles.

Doris loved family and truly enjoyed being a grandma. She would do anything for her grandbabies. Doris was a member of the Perry Alumni Association and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Her faith was very important to her.

Left to cherish Doris’ memory are her children; Dean and his wife Zonna, Dennis and his wife Trina, and Sara and her spouse Amy Cole, grandbabies; Christina DePriest, Denise Clayton and husband Kelly, Josh Feken and wife Melissa, Abby Feken-Cole, Sydney Feken-Cole, Sarah Johnson and husband Darrell, great grandbabies; Carson Ewing and husband Richard, Connor Powell and wife Hannah, Camryn DePriest, Trenton Clayton, Colt Feken, and Liam Johnson, great great grandbabies; Reid Ewing, Collins Ewing, and Charlotte Powell, twin sister; Deloris Emmons and husband Tommy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
