- age 17, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. J. Steichen. She was born in Perry, August 23. 1923.

Before coming to the Perry schools she attended Pleasant Hill rural school.

She was president of St. Theresa Club, and for a hobby she has collected stamps.

Katherine plans to become a nurse after graduation from the Perry high school.

Scripture service and visitation for Katherine Marie Steichen, 77, Enid, will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel in Enid. Deacon Tony Crispo will preside.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Enid, with Rev. James J. Mickus officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Perry, OK, under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Rev. Kevin Devlin, Perry, will officiate at the burial rites.

Ms. Steichen was born Aug. 23, 1923, northeast of Perry OK, the daughter of Nicholas and Rosa (Rolling) Steichen. She died Sunday, April 1, 2001 at St Mary’s Regional Health Center in Enid, OK.

She was reared in Perry where she attended Pleasant Hill County School and graduated from Perry High School in 1941. She was employed by JC Penney Co in Perry for 27 years until she retired.

In 1980, she moved to Enid and worked at Evans for six years, and in 1987 she went to work for the Foster Grandparent program at Eisenhower Elementary School until her death. She loved working with the children at the school.

Survivors include her three sisters: Mrs. Marion (Luella) Cink, Enid, Mrs. Pete (Lucille) Schultz, Billings, and Delores Quinn, San Antonio, TX; one brother, Edward Steichen, Perry; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
