Bessie (Busch) Edwards

April 25, 1893 – September 13, 1981

Mrs. Bessie Edwards, 88, area pioneer, died at 7:10 a.m. Sunday at Green Valley Nursing center where she had resided since Feb. 21, 1979.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parker Funeral chapel with Rev. R. Fred Selby, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. Burial will be at Grace Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Edwards was born April 25, 1893, to Frederick and Elizabeth Busch at Norman and came to this area in 1894. She attended Perry schools and Wichita university.

She and Harry R. Edwards were married February 27, 1914. He died in 1964.

A 70-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, she served as state secretary of the organization for 30 years. Mrs. Edwards was a member of the First Baptist church.

Among survivors are one son, Bill Edwards, Orlando; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In addition to her husband, her parents preceded her in death.
