– daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orie E. Bocox, was born and reared in and near Perry.

She is a collector of books and keeps an elaborate scrapbook. She plans to take a course in art at Oklahoma A. and M. College following graduation.

She attended Welcome, Rose Hill District, Sunny Slope and Perry schools.

Fran Doretta (Bocox) Palm

October 27, 1921 – June 24, 2015

Fran D. Palm, beloved wife of John (Jack) Palm, died June 24, 2015, at the age of ninety-three. Fran was born to Orie and Evelynn Bocox, October 27, 1921 near Orlando, Oklahoma.

In 1939 she graduated from Perry High School. She earned a B.A. degree from Central State University and in 1960 she received her M.A. degree in Elementary Education from the University of Tulsa. Fran taught in Tulsa Public Schools until she retired in 1978.

A member of the New Haven United Methodist Church, Fran helped charter the United Methodist Women’s group.

Fran married her college sweetheart and love of her life John (Jack) Palm in 1943. They were married for 63 years and had three children: James, David, and Nancy.

Activities Fran enjoyed were gardening, playing bridge, traveling, reading, music, fishing, and being with family and friends. She devoted her life to her family, her students, and those in need.

Fran is survived by her three children and their spouses: Nancy and Jess (Jay) W. Curry of Houston, Texas, James (Jim) and Terri Palm of Edmond, Oklahoma, and David and Susan Palm of Sedona, Arizona. Eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren survive her.

Fran was preceded in death by her loving husband Jack, her sisters and brothers, and one great grandchild.

A private service was held by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests friends to donate to their favorite charity.
