Nellie Mae (Province) Brown

November 22, 1916 – January 12, 1974

Mrs. Murl (Nellie Mae Province) Brown, 57, a native Noble countyan of San Diego, Calif., died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday at Scripps Memorial hospital at LaJolla, Calif. Arrangements for services were pending Monday at San Diego.

Mrs. Brown was born Nov. 22, 1916, near Red Rock, Oklahoma, to Joseph Spencer and Willa Lenora (Bagby) Province. She graduated from Perry high school in 1935 and was a graduate of Tulsa Business college. Mrs Brown worked at the First National bank at Tulsa from 1948-52.

She served as a lieutenant in the WAVES in the coast guard during World war II. Mrs. Brown had been employed as secretary to a naval officer in San Diego 15 years.

She was married to Murl D. Brown in 1946 at Biloxi, Miss. He works with the Internal Revenue Service at San Diego.

Survivors other than her husband include two brothers, John Province, Bartlesville, and Raymond Province, Long Beach, Calif.; and three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Clements, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Helen Burke, Oceanside, Calif.; and Mrs. W. C.(Maxine) Hartman, Perry.
