Elmer Eugene “Al” Nida

January 10, 1913 – September 29, 1993

Long-time Orlando farmer/rancher and dirt contractor, Elmer E. “Al” Nida, 80, died at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1993, at Perry Memorial hospital.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Brown Funeral home. Rev. Lynn Scott, pastor of the First Christian church, will officiate. Burial will be at Grace Hill cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung association.

Nida was the son of E. V. and Anna Nida and was born west of Orlando, Jan. 10, 1913. He was a graduate of Perry high school and was married to Christine McCracken on Feb. 17, 1940.

He served in the United States Army during World War II, had been a past commander of the Mulhall-Orlando American Legion post and was a member of the Christian church.

Nida was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Among survivors are three brothers, Orie Nida, John Nida and Charles Nida, all of Perry; four sisters, Laura Kennedy, Katherine Klinglesmith and Etta Mae McCoy, all of Perry, and Lucille Updike, Tulsa; four sister-in-law, Effie Manning, Perry, Darlene Anderson, Lawton, Twyla Jones, Phoenix, Arizona, and Mary McCracken, Augusta, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.
