William Leon Shaw

May 27, 1927 – September 15, 1991

William L. Shaw, 64, Osage, formerly of Perry, died at 10:10 a.m. Sunday at Hominy Nursing home after an illness of several weeks.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Brown Funeral home at Perry. Rev. Myron C. Maltz, pastor of Christ Lutheran church, will officiate. Burial will be at Grace Hill cemetery.

Shaw was born at Perry, May 27, 1927, the son of 0. L. “Curly” and Hulda Shaw. He was a 1945 graduate of Perry high school. He and the former Donna Mae Clark were married at Perry, Jan. 18, 1948.

A United States Navy veteran, Shaw was a member of Christ Lutheran church of Perry, American Legion post No. 3 and a Senior Citizens group.

He had farmed, worked as a meat salesman, meat cutter and real estate salesman. Shaw and his wife operated Shaw Grocery at Douglas, Kan., from 1975-1981.

In addition to Mrs. Shaw, of the home at Osage, survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Sherry Shaw, Derby, Kan.; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Ron Gudenkauf, Douglas, Kan.; two grandsons, Darren Shaw, Wichita, Kan., and Eric Gudenkauf, Douglas, Kan.; his mother, Hulda Shaw, Perry; one brother, Jack L. Shaw, Perry; a sister, Fran L. Schonenberger, Casa Grande, Arizona; two step-grandchildren, three nieces and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1987.
