Acting is the professional ambition of Gary Don Sorrell, 18-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sorrell, route three, Perry. He has attended Perry public schools the past four years. Sorrell is a member of the First Baptist church. Music is the favorite subject of Sorrell, who was involved in vocal music, 1976-80; drama, 1977-80; the Bear Necessities, 1977-79; and the Student Librarians association, 1979-80. Sorrell has received two superior ratings in vocal music competition. His hobbies include music, acting, snow skiing, and water skiing. Sorrell was born Oct. 3, 1961.
Gary Don Sorrell

Gary Don Sorrell, 29, route 3, Perry, died at 3:19 a.m. Wednesday at Baptist Medical Center at Oklahoma City after a lengthy illness.
Sorrell was born at Dumas, Texas, Oct. 3, 1961, the son of Harold and Donna (Morris) Sorrell. He moved with his family to Pawnee in 1963 and to Perry in 1971. He was a 1980 graduate of Perry high school and attended Oklahoma Baptist university at Shawnee.
He was associated with Revival for Christ and had participated in Stagecoach Community Theatre productions.
In addition to his parents, of route 3, Perry, Sorrell is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ronald (Lori) Johnson, Orlando, and Mrs. David (Sherry) Rorabaugh, Perry; a brother, Steve Sorrell, Perry; a nephew, McKay Rorabaugh, Perry; his maternal grandmother, Gladys Morris, Welch, Texas; and a number of aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Tom and Blanche Sorrell, and maternal grandfather, Howard Morris.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist church. Rev. Allen McHam, the church pastor, and Rev. Robert Chitwood will officiate. Burial will be at Grace Hill cemetery. Memorials may be made to 10th Floor-East, Baptist Medical Center.
