Writing short stories is the interesting hobby of Arta Joplin, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur L. Joplin, 721 Ninth street. Her favorite subject is art, and her immediate plans include enrolling at Northern Oklahoma college. Miss Joplin was born July 18, 1951, in Christopher, Ill. She attended grade school and junior high in St. Elmo, Ill., before coming to Perry in 1965. She has been a member of the Future Homemakers of America and the band.

Arta Christine Joplin

July 18, 1951 – July 15, 1989

Arta C. Joplin, 37, of 1200 W. Prairie, Marion, Ill., died at 9:56 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 1989, in the Marion Memorial Hospital.

Born in Christopher, Illinois, July 18, 1951, she was the daughter of Arthur and Betty (Johnson) Joplin. Arta graduated from PHS in 1969.

Ms. Joplin was a member of the Church of God.

Survivors include her parents of Marion; one brother, Doug Joplin of Marion; and one sister, Gayle Hale of Marion.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, with burial in Marion City Cemetery.
