Edith Irene (Murdock) Groff

January 17, 1917 – May 4, 2008

Edith Irene Groff died May 4, 2008, at age 91. She was born on January 17, 1917, on a farm 15 miles northwest of Perry, Oklahoma to Evereff and Leona Murdock.

She graduated from college in 1941. She taught In elementary school In Oklahoma and California. She retired from Chico Unified School District In June of 1979 and then she and husband Ernest traveled the globe.

Edith was predeceased by Ernest in August of 2001 and by two younger sisters.

She is survived by two children, Tamara McGuire of Chico, and Everett Groff of San Jose; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m., at ChIco Church of Christ, corner of Lassen and Burnap Avenues. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the Chico Church of Christ, c/o Brusie Funeral Home.
