Mrs. Shirleen Lacquement will have a full-time job keeping house for her husband following her graduation at Perry high school. The couple lives at 1101 Grove street. Mrs. Lacquement, daughter of Fred Barnes, Elkhart, Kan., was born in Arkansas City, Kan., and attended schools at Elkhart and Arkansas City before coming to PHS. During her school years she took two years of band work.

Shirleen B Lacquement, 72, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at Taylor House in Des Moines.

Born in Arkansas City, KS on December 26, 1931, she was the daughter of Frederick and Anita (Payne) Barnes. The family moved to Des Moines in 1962.

She retired from Blank Children’s Hospital where she worked as a certified nurse assistant.

Shirleen was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dorothy Scott; half brother, Freddie Barnes, and her stepmother, Ida Barnes.

She is survived by her sons, Dana of Des Moines, Mark of Green River, WY, Mitch of Carlisle and Kirk of Woodward; eleven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren: five great-grandchildren: sister, Pat Wesbrook of Arkansas City, KS; half sisters, Barbara Crosley and Susan Craig; half brother, Ernie Barnes, and stepbrothers, Phillip and Lynn Scott.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at Grandview Park Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to InTrust Hospice Taylor House.
