Wendell A. Davis, 18, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Farris Davis, 1314 Fir avenue. He plans to enroll at Oklahoma A. & M. college. Wendell was a member of the band from 1948-51 and participated in basketball and football. He has received all his schooling in Perry.
Wendell Allen Davis

Wendell Allen Davis, 59, Tyler, TX, died Thursday in a Tyler hospital.
Born March 21, 1934, in Perry, Okla., he was the son of Farris and Mabel Harkins Davis. After graduation from Perry high school in 1952, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
Mr. Davis started a small boat dealership, Davis Boat Sales, that grew to the largest in Tyler, TX. By 1987, with more than 30 years in the marine industry, the company was named one of the top five Mercury dealers in Texas and one of the top 100 in the United States, and one of the top Yamaha dealers in the county.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Ann Chambers and Karen Igla, both of Overland Park, Kan.; mother, Mabel Davis, Beaumont; one brother, Gordon Leroy Davis, Springdale, Ark.; and two grandchildren.
Services were held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Broussard’s Mortuary chapel in Beaumont, Texas. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
