Melvin Leroy Bounds, 18, plans to enter the Army for military duty following graduation this spring from Perry high school. The son of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Bounds, he was born in Perry, Nov. 11, 1936. He went out for wrestling the last two years and played baseball last year. His most interesting subject is typing.

Melvin Leroy “Mr. Mel” Bounds, 70, died on Friday, Dec 8, 2006, at his residence in Breaux Bridge, LA.
Born November 11, 1936, in Perry, Oklahoma, he was the son of Elmer Cleburn Bounds and Pearl Gladys Timbers Bounds. After graduation from Perry high school in 1955 he and Juanita “Joy” Winn were married. On February 9, 2007, he and Joy would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Mr. Bounds proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita “Joy” Winn Bounds of Breaux Bridge; three sons, Danny Bounds and his wife, Maureen of Las Vegas, Nevada, Stephen Bounds and his wife, Rhonda of Breaux Bridge, and Mark Bounds of Winter Harbor, Maine; three brothers, Earl H. Bounds and his wife, Lois of Springdale, Arkansas, Merle E. Bounds and his wife, Nancy of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Gary L. Bounds of Lawton, Oklahoma; two sisters, Gladys Presnell and her husband, Bill, and Grace Brent, all of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer C. and Pearl Timbers Bounds; and one brother, Ernest Bounds.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Teche Baptist Church, Breaux Bridge, LA. A committal with full military service followed at Port Hudson National Cemetery in Zachary, LA.
