Sammy Rhines

– daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel B. Rhines of Twelfth and Fir, was born in Perry on May 23, 1927, and has attended no other schools except the ones in this city.

She belongs to the Red Hots, is a member of the Perryscope staff, took part in the junior class play in 1944, and is in Teen Town.

After getting her diploma, Sammy plans to work through the summer then continue her education in college.

Sammy Isabell (Rhines) Spradlin

May 23, 1927 – December 17, 2000

Sammy Isabell Spradlin, 73, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at her residence at 16 Cedar Street.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Ron Weathers will officiate. Burial will be at Grace Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, heart or diabetes division.

Mrs. Spradlin was born May 23, 1927, in Perry, the daughter of Samuel B. and Susy (Berger) Rhines. She and Beryl Spradlin were married April 4, 1974 in Jacksonville, FL.

She graduated from high school and attended one year at Florida Junior College.

Mrs. Spradlin was previously employed at Triton Insurance Company as mail casier and was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teach for many years. She was a member of Esther Rebekah Lodge, the United Methodist Women, Scout’s Garden Club and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Beryl, of the home; two sons, Samuel Scott Bowden and his wife, Sharon, Bowlegs, OK, and Johnnie Eugene Bowden and wife Dale, Maxell, FL: a sister, Myree Stephens, Perry; two stepsons; Keith Spradlin and wife Linda, Keflavik, Iceland, and Jerry Spradlin, Jacksonville, FL; a stepdaughter, Becky Irwin and husband Buster, Jacksonville, FL: three grandsons: Nicholas Bowden and his wife Christina, Oklahoma City, Justin Bowden and Chris Bowden, Bowlegs, OK; two granddaughters: Jessica Bowde, Maxwell, FL, and Kerri Correia and husband Jim, Jacksonville, FL; one great granddaughter and one great grandson, Stephanie Bowden and Steven Bowden, Oklahoma City; numerous nephew and nieces in the local area; and close friends: Dan, Pam and Cheryl Padgett, Baldwin, FL, and Deloris Williams and Wanda Nieman, Perry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister, and grandson, Jeremy Irwin.
