Myron Murphy Gibbens

September 27, 1889 – November 15, 1957

Myron M. Gibbens, 68-year-old attorney of 1532 NW 35, died unexpectedly Friday at his home in Oklahoma City on November 15, 1957.

Born September 27, 1889, in Oberlin, Kansas, to Edward Everett Gibbens, Sr. and Jessie Olive (Murphy) Gibbens, he came to Oklahoma shortly after the run of 1889, first living at Perry. He graduated from Perry high school in 1906 then continued his education at Epworth University. He made Oklahoma City his home.

A member of Wesley Methodist church, he belonged to the ’89ers club.

Surviving are his wife, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Richard R. Linn, 2648, NW 27; four sons, Dr. Murray, of Denver; James C., 2225 Carleton way; Rev. Richard E., pastor of the First Methodist church, Edmond, and Daniel G. of Norman; a brother, Everett E., 2815 NW 33, and a sister, Mrs. Hortense Meikle, Long Beach, Calif.

Rites will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the Wesley Methodist church with burial in Memorial Park cemetery.
