Class of 1901

Mary Esther “Mayme” (Ringo) Little

April 16, 1882 – April 29, 1940

Mary Ester “Mayme” was born in Atchison, Kansas, on April 16, 1882, to Benjamin O. and Margaret (Jessee) Ringo. She came to Perry with her family and was one of the first students to earn a high school diploma from Perry high school with the class of 1901.

In 1902 she began teaching the primary classes in the Perry public school and continued until 1910 when, because of ill health, she moved to Passadena, California.

On March 22, 1911, she and Dennis Martin Little were married in Los Angeles, California. Mr. Little had also been a resident of Perry, being employed in the Exchange Bank. He served as Vice-president of Hillcrest Co. until his death.

Mayme then lived with her sister Florence (Ringo) Irwin and her mother in San Diego until her death on April 29, 1940.

She is buried at the Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego, California.
