Clarence “Lavern” Swendig, Jr.

September 26, 1926 – December 7, 1973

Lavern Swendig, 47, 716 Grove street, died at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Perry Memorial hospital, which he entered Tuesday.

Swendig was born Sept. 26, 1926, in Perry, to Clarence and Mary (Thompson) Swendig. He was a World war II veteran and had resided in Perry most of his life. He had been engaged in farming and had operated a service station. Swendig was a member of the Christian church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Independent Order of Odd Fellows lodge.

Survivors include his parents, of the home address; one brother, Richard, who is serving with the U.S. Army in Colorado; and one sister, Mrs. Betty Ruth (Swendig) Payne, Dallas, Texas.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Parker chapel with Rev. W. T. Dunn, pastor of the Calvary Baptist church, officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill cemetery.
