Velma Harlan

– daughter of Mrs. Martha Neiman, attended three rural schools before moving to Perry and entering the local high school.

She was a student at Pikes Peak, Pleasant Hill and Freemont. Velma is one of the graduates with this year’s class at PHS.

Born 18 years ago in Perry, Miss Harlan’s plans for the future are not complete.

Velma Pearl Harlan

November 27, 1924 – July 26, 2000

Velma Harlan, 75, Perry, died at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday at Green Valley Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2000, at Grace Hill Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Sisson Funeral Home. Officiating will be Iona Rutherford and Gloria Brown.

Ms. Harlan was born November 27, 1924, in Perry, the daughter of Earl and Martha (Nelson) Harlan. She worked as a member of the support personnel at Oklahoma State University. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and the Noble County Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include three nephews and their wives: Robert and Connie Shelton, Oklahoma City; Steven and Susie Neiman and Dale and Patty Neiman, all of Perry; two nieces, Marilyn and her husband John Nemec, Perry, and Debra Clark, Newalla; and an aunt, Irene McLemore, Dodge City, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
