Ruth Evelynn Bocox

January 2, 1916 – May 10, 2006

Ruth Eveylnn Bocox, longtime resident of Ponca City, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at the Ponca City Medical Center. She was 90 years of age.

Ms. Bocox was born January 2, 1916, in Orlando, Oklahoma, the daughter of One and Eveylnn Bocox. During the past year she had been living at the Westminster Retirement Center.

She had worked in the loan department of Albright Title and Trust Company. She was active in many organizations such as the Credit Women’s Breakfast Club, Kay County Legal Secretaries, President and District Director of the Ponca City Business and Professional Women’s Club, President of the Republicans Women’s Club of Kay County. She had also helped some thirteen years in the four year old Sunday school department of the First Baptist Church.

After retiring in 1981, she belonged to the Northern Oklahoma Iris Society, the Ponca City Art Association, president two years for the local AARP and was a member of the First Baptist Church and Naomi Sunday School Class.

Ruth loved to travel, play Canasta and garden. She visited Europe three times, the Caribbean Island, Hawaii and toured the Holy Land in 1981.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Orie and Eveylnn Bocox; one sister, Cherrie; and two brothers Jack and George.

She is survived by one brother, Don Bocox, Claremore, Oklahoma, and one sister, Fran Palm, Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister-in-laws, Mary Bocox, Medford, Oklahoma, and Ida Mae Bocox, Perry, Oklahoma; many nieces and nephews. She was loved by her family and her many friends.

Graveside services will beheld at 10:30 Saturday, May 13, 2006, at the Grace Hill Cemetery, Perry, Oklahoma, with memorial services to follow at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the First Baptist Church, Ponca City.
