Charles Ray “Chuck” McManess

Charles Ray “Chuck” McManess, 54, Cushing, Oklahoma, died April 5, 1991, at his home.

McManess was born in Arkansas on October 27, 1936. He was the son of William George and Martha Christina McManess. His father was a barber in Perry.

He attended Perry schools, graduating in the mid-50s. He served in the United State Army during the Korean Conflict.

McManess moved to Cushing in the early 1970s and was an advertising salesman and manager of the advertising department of the Cushing Daily Citizen. Later he was involved in producing a shopper-type news sheet.

Survivors include two sons, William George McManess, Montezuma, Kan., and John Wayne McManess, Syracuse, Kan.; six daughters, Martha Christine Kemp, Winfield, Kan., Kimberly Rae Schmidt, Syracuse, Kan., Carla Lea Beason, Garden City, Kan., LeTicia Ann Neilson, Aurora, Kan., and Shannon and Irish McManess, both of Cushing; and one brother, Bill McManess, Shawnee.

Graveside rites will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Hill cemetery at Perry.
