Gordon L Abel, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Abel, 813 Delaware street, is winding up an active 12-year association with Perry schools. Activities with which he has been associated are student council, the Perryscope staff, Distributive Education club, junior class play, president of the student council, National Honor society, and Boy State. Gordon plans to continue his education at Oklahoma A. & M. college.

Gordon Lillie Abel

October 1, 1933 – September 4, 2001

Gordon Abel, 67, Perry, was born October 1, 1933, in Pilot Point, Texas. He was the son of James Monroe and Viola M. (Cole) Abel. He died at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2001, at Perry Memorial Hospital.

Abel was the owner of a vending sales business and was of the Methodist faith.

Abel was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors are a son, Craig Abel, a grandson, Jared Abel, and a granddaughter, Cassy Abel, all of Auckland, New Zealand; a sister and brother-in-law, Gayle and Dennis Davis, Milton, Kansas; and a niece, Deah Rhodes and her husband, Frank, and a nephew, Steven Davis and his wife, Stacey, all of Wichita, Kansas.

Graveside rites will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2001, at Grace Hill Cemetery with Rev. Ron Weathers officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
