Marie Elizabeth (St. Clair) Morgan

August 1, 1892 – September 14, 1978

Mrs. Marie Morgan, 86, died September 14, 1978, at Westminster Village, North, Indianapolis, Indiana.

Born at Spirit Lake, Iowa, on August 1, 1892, she was the daughter of Judge Hugh Edmond St. Clair and Amelda Nancy (Mack) St. Clair. She was reared in Perry and graduated from Perry High School in 1912. Ms. Morgan attended Henry Kendall College, which now is the University of Tulsa. While attending Kendall College she served as associate editor of the school magazine, “The Collegian.”

Miss St. Clair and Dewitt Schuyler Morgan, professor at Kendall College, were married December 30, 1915. They moved to Center, Indiana, where Mr. Morgan taught school, before moving to Indianapolis, Indiana, where he taught, was principal, and served as superintendent of Indianapolis Public Schools from 1937 until his death in 1944.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Donald P. Morgan of Iowa City, Iowa, and Robert D. Morgan of Indianapolis, and a sister, Mrs. Henry Bennett of Oklahoma City.

Services for Mrs. Morgan will be held at noon September 16 in Flanner and Buchanan Broad Ripple Mortuary, with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana.
