George Wayne Cress, 18, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Cress, 1316 Jackson street. He plans to enter military service after graduation. Born May 10, 1938, in Okmulgee, George has attended only Perry schools. Cress, has been active in band work and baseball. He came to Noble county in 1939.

On Thursday, September 16, 2021, George Wayne Cress passed away at the age of 83.

Born on May 10, 1938, he was the son of C. B. and Wilma Cress. George was married to the love of his life for 63 years, Carolyn Cress. He loved spending time with her and his children, which equally included their spouses. Any time he spent having dinner with his son Mark W. Cress and his wife Cheryl L. Cress who he so lovingly called Chippy or his daughter Cathy C. Darneal and her husband Eddie Darneal was time he treasured.

He spent well over 50 years in the oil and gas business. George was the consummate mentor and teacher to so many.

George is preceded in death by his father, CB Cress, his mother, Wilma Cress, his brother, BJ Cress, and sister-in-law, Marilyn Cress. 

Survivors include his loving wife Carolyn, son Mark and wife Cheryl, daughter Cathy and husband Eddie; grandchildren: Lindsey Brewer and husband Collin, Kellie McCormack and husband Brent, Chad Darnel and wife Kathryn, Steele Darnel, Ty Darnel, Steph Scott and husband Brice, Jason Darnel and wife Leigh Anne; great-grandchildren: Calvin, Brooklyn, Harper, Hadley and Kayde in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday September 25, 2021, 10:00 AM at the Klein Funeral Home – Champions, 16131 Champion Forest Dr., Klein Texas. Burial will immediately follow the Chapel Service at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery at Houston, Texas.
