Enid Arlene (Johndrow) Heppler

August 23, 1929 – January 19, 2023

Enid Johndrow Heppler, 93, of Perry, Oklahoma, passed into the loving arms of her Savior January 19, 2023.

She was born August 23, 1929, in Hunter, Oklahoma, to Leo and Elsie Campbell Johndrow. She moved to Perry when she was 11 years old. Enid attended grade school in Garfield and Noble Counties. She met the love of her life, Bernard (Hep), her junior year of high school. He was a high school student, driving a school bus, looked at her through the rearview mirror, winked his eye at her, and thus began a courtship and a wonderful life story. They were married April 18, 1948, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where they continued as members throughout their 73 years of marriage. Early in her married life, Enid was employed by Senator Val Connell and Raymond O’Donnell, M.D. She then became a full-time mother to her children.

Enid was a devoted Catholic and loved her faith. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Altar Society in which she held all offices. She was a 45-year member of the Golden Circle Homemakers Group. Enid was an excellent seamstress and wonderful cook and loved to prepare Sunday dinners for her family. She and Hep loved camping and boating, and they can be remembered for hosting many swimming pool and baseball parties at their home. She and Hep owned Zip Trip in Perry for several years. In their retirement, she and Hep spent 24 winters in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.

Enid is most fondly remembered as being a loving wife, wonderful mother, Mimi, and G-G to her family. She crocheted afghans for all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; son, David; grandson, Colby; her parents, Leo and Elsie Johndrow; an infant sister, Sarah Evelyn; baby brother, Julian Carl; and Earl, Melvin, and Robert Johndrow.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda McKeown of Stillwater, OK; son, Michael (Njeri) Heppler, Greenville, NC; and daughter, Ann (Bret) Truax, Salem, OR. She is Mimi to Brandon (Erin) Heppler, Pensacola, FL; Ashley (Patrick) Wood, Edmond, OK; Michelle (Joseph) Thompson, Agra, OK; Shawn McKeown, Stillwater, OK; Heather (Alex) Stadler, Baltimore, MD; Brittany Moynham Broomfield, CO; and Austin Heppler, Greenville, NC. She is G-G to Etta and Rockwell Heppler, Addyson, Avery, and Colin Wood, Ella and Eva Dillard, Everson and Ellington Thompson, and Landon Wilde.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2023, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Perry with Father Brian O’Brien officiating.
