George Kent, 19, is the son of Mrs. Ida LaDue, route one, Perry. He attended Highland school in Noble county before entering Perry high. He was born Feb. 2, 1938, in Perry, and plans to enter Phillips university, Enid. Kent was in the the Future Farmers of America in 1952-54, played football 1952-55, basketball 1952-56, and baseball 1952-55. He was a member of the Perryscope staff last year. Kent’s favorite subject is English.

George Leon Kent

February 2, 1938 — May 26, 2023

George Leon Kent, 85, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on May 26, 2023, in Perry, Oklahoma. Born on February 2, 1938, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, he was the son of Leon Kent and Rachel Green Kent.

On December 31, 1959, he married Judith Ann Toone. To this union four children were born: Gregg of the home, Kevin of Oklahoma City, Dana of Perry and Allison of Perry.

George retired from Ditch Witch and after a short retirement he returned to work for Otoe Bingo as a security guard. He then went to work for E-Z Drill, 7 Clans Paradise Casino, and retired again in 2021 from Otoe-Missouria Tribal police Department where he was a dispatcher. He was a proud member of the Otoe-Missouria Tribe of Oklahoma.

His enjoyments were watching his children play football, basketball, baseball, and softball. However, his biggest enjoyment was coaching baseball and softball. He and his very good friend “Bob T” also spent several years umpiring together, traveling to many different towns.

George was an avid pool player and spent a couple of nights a week shooting pool at Ace’s up until about a year ago.

Survivors include: his children; grandchildren, Jordan Enloe, Mariah Enloe, Rachel Horton, Titan Horton and Creede Kent; great-grandchildren, Keaton and Ryleigh; and son-in-law Garland Arkeketa.

He was preceded in death by his wife Judy, his parents, and sister Rachel.
